Mujer III is part of an investigation which questions the relationship between femininity and corporality. Through this artwork there surges a confrontation with intimacy, blood, body and gore that seeks to ask important questions such as, what blood entails on our daily life, how menstrual cycles have the power to form community and unity among women, and how embracing one’s body, in any shape, odor or texture it may be, can in turn help us live a more fulfilling life. By embracing the gore of menstruation we accept the totality of the female experience and thus become closer to other women and ourselves.
