BIRD is part of a larger series of self portraits titled 'Animal' that responds to derogatory language used about women. It creates satirical characters and narratives that reclaim the words. It explores how we use words and the power they can have and how language can be used as a form of control. Suzie studied BA Photography at Nottingham Trent University and won the Women in Art Prize 2023. She has exhibited around the UK, including Mall Galleries, Art on a Postcard and Roundhouse in London and has had her work published in 'Artists Responding To' magazine.
